A hidden gem in the Megalong Valley

Mermaids Cave Walk Blackheath is a short but spectacular 200-meter return walk and a local's hidden gem. Just off Megalong Valley Road in Blackheath you will discover the most incredible sandstone caves that tower above you and a lovely waterfall that make the experience even more surreal.

It might take around 15 minutes to explore the cave, but the tranquility of this glen makes it an essential stop if you are passing through the Megalong Valley.

Famous for being used as a set in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, discover the tiny slot canyon leading to a small enclosed waterfall, a great spot for photos, especially in the right light with some mist around.

You will see the ‘Mermaids Cave Walk’ sign on the left, heading down into the Megalong Valley, and a small parking lot on the right side of the road.
